The Compendium Account Management team is committed to making
sure all clients are getting the most out of the Compendium
application. Once a month, we will host a "Compendium Feature
Thursday Webinar" in which new features, helpful tips and best
practices will be discussed to help clients navigate their way
through the platform. In this session, Allison Bowen walks clients
through the new social sharing features, the assign a post feature,
and the content calendar.
In terms of content creation and moderation, it's always wise to
tell your audience exactly what you want them to do. One of the
best ways to do that is to modify and test your templates. Provide
calls-to-action that drive traffic to where you want your customers
to go or what you want them to do, whether that be signing up for a
newsletter, downloading content from your company, or visit your
website.
In the video below, Clayton talks about the importance of modifying
your template design,...Read More »
Calls to Action (CTAs) are a very important part
of your blogging program. A great CTA can help you achieve your
goals – whether those goals are to drive traffic to your website,
encourage whitepaper downloads, or sign-up for a webinar. The video
below focuses on some best practices that will help you when
designing and creating CTAs.
Check out this video, so you can begin designing your new
call-to-action today!
By default, Administrators and Authors do not have the ability to
edit the template design, therefore, all template changes are made
through a
request to the Product Support team. If you are interested in
gaining access to the template editor, you or someone in your
company can become a Designer. The Designer role will allow you to
further customize the look and feel of your network's template and
will provide you with 24-7 access to manage all template
modifications.
As a Designer, you will need to create a Call to Action (CTA) for
your blog. A CTA is an image that entices the reader or
viewer to make a decision to take the next step based upon the
image.
Here is a list of best practices to keep in mind when designing a
CTA:
Create Urgency - The reader should understand
how easy and immediate their action will be.
Use Numbers - Digits help make the action very
specific (i.e. prices).
Indicate a Specific Action - Tell the reader
exactly what you want them to...
As an Author, you have the ability to compose posts in Microsoft
Word and paste it into the Compendium text editor.
All text within Microsoft Word or Outlook has additional
formatting because Microsoft Word products contain <MSO>
formatting tags and styling. When you do a copy/paste of text from
Word or Outlook, this formatting is also copied. The <MSO>
formatting can cause issues with the way the text looks, the way
the whole blog page displays, or the way the Compendium application
works.
As an Author, you can add categories to your image descriptions
using the Compendium text editor. As a best practice, be sure
to not stuff categories into the description and instead only
describe what the image truly represents.
After uploading the image to a post, add a description for the
image and include the applicable keywords The image description is a text field that will assign the alt tag,
image title, and hover text for the...
As an Administrator, you have the ability to set up Author accounts
for your network's contributors. It is possible to have multiple
contributors on one Author account by sharing login credentials.
However, this is not a Compendium best practice.
We recommend only one contributor per Author account for the
following reasons:
Added security risks in sharing login credentials.
Added compliance risks, as it is difficult to pinpoint exactly
which contributor submitted which post.
The uber blog, also known as the main company blog, is typically
the start page for a blog network. The uber blog is not
focused on a specific Author, but instead, all contributors of the
network. It displays all posts created in the network and
approved by the Administrator with the exception of Author's
sticky posts.
Please Note: While the uber blog is the main
company blog, its title can be specified during the New Client
Set-Up Process. For SEO purposes, it is a Compendium
best practice...Read More »
A PDF file containing categories will not compend to the
appropriate category blogs. If you are interested in using the
content of a PDF file in a blog post, you may include content from
the PDF file to create the post and link to the full
file within the post. This allows the post to compend to category
blogs, as well as contribute to the overall SEO.
Please note: You are able to link to a PDF file
within a post, but it is a Compendium best practice to include
category-rich content from the...
